Initiate Commerce, Inc. is a software development company located in the historic downtown area of Albany, New York in the heart of New York’s Tech Valley Initiate Commerce was founded to help retailers, suppliers, manufacturers and distributors be more effective in the on-line age of retailing.
The founders and management team of Initiate Commerce, Inc. have over a combined 25 years experience creating software solutions for the largest retailers and suppliers in the world.
Erik began his career as a software developer at CommerceHub, a leader in multi-channel retail fulfillment solutions. Erik helped lead the team that created the QVC Books, Movies, and Music Storefront, which enabled QVC to offer over 2 million products for sale in under two months.
Erik then lead CommerceHub’s product information management efforts as a Product and Operations Manager, where he oversaw the publishing of hundreds of thousands of SKUs to and from retailers and suppliers, including QVC, Circuit City, Jos A Bank, Ingram Books, Alliance Entertainment, Discovery Stores, EToys, and D&H.
Erik has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University at Albany.
Jason Fox was the sixth employee at CommerceHub and is a pioneer of web-based supply-chain management systems.
In 2001 Jason lead the team that built the QVC Books, Movies, and Music storefront in one and a half months. Jason also served as Product Manager for CommerceHub’s core products, consulting closely with many of the top on-line retailers.
Jason is a customer-driven product manager who is passionate, to the point of obsession, about learning the needs of his clients in detail and then enthusiastically turning those needs into an easy to use web-based system.
Jason has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from the University at Albany.
Richard Jones is a technologist and serial entrepreneur with extensive experience in the retail, wholesale, and logistics space. He has worked directly over the years with leading companies including Target, Home Depot, UPS, Dell, Costco, Staples, Fedex, Sears, Circuit City, and Kmart. He specializes in developing and deploying powerful solutions to complex business problems.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Jones was a co-founder and the CTO of CommerceHub, a supply chain integration platform servicing 15 of the top 20 online retailers in North America. While at CommerceHub he architected the high-volume integration and order management platform that currently supports hundreds of millions of transactions per year. Additionally, he led the Engineering, QA, and Product Management teams there through dozens of major projects. He resigned his position in 2006 after a successful sale of the company to Liberty Media.
Prior to CommerceHub, Mr. Jones owned a boutique web consultancy whose customers included the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the University at Albany, and the American Psychoanalytic Association.
Mr. Jones has a B.S. in Mathematics from Birmingham-Southern College, Phi Beta Kappa, and a M.S. in Computer Science from the University at Albany
